One star who is in the select group of people who are successful at both is Robin Thicke. **My View**

      1.) Got 2 Be Down

This is a great start to the album and features Faith Evans who gets things off to a strong start, This is a flowing track which features a catchy beat and Evans' vocals have a kind of 70's soul feel about them, Thicke then comes in with his superb Marvin Gaye like Falsetto. This is a great fusion of 70's soul and an up to date R&B beat. This track works really well and is a great one to start off with.

      2.) Complicated

This starts gently with a lovely soft piano part and again Thicke's gorgeous falsetto is a key part of the song. The soft beat comes in and then the song really gets into full flow. This is a very impressive ballad indeed which has a superb musical tone and as well as being beautifully emotive the catchy percussion makes this a toe tapper as well. A fabulous track and something different from your usual ballad.

3.) Would That Make U Love Me

This track opens with gentle guitar and a thumping beat which is soon joined by a bass guitar to make a very catchy hook. The falsetto vocals are again superb and this is another flowing ballad which really shows the variety of his music. I really love the flow of this track and there's some great Hammond organ in the background to make it have a bluesy sound which works extremely well.

      4.) Lost Without U

This is the track you will probably know, it was a big single and is another lovely ballad which shows off his great falsetto again. The track is about how you can feel lost when you are without someone whether you have split or you are away without them. This is a fabulously written and performed track which really shows the emotion in his voice. This is an absolutely superb track.

      5.) Ask Myself

This track has a catchy feel from the off. It opens with some catchy beats and then gets into full flow with a flowing guitar in the background. This track features some nice backing vocals which compliment Robin's vocals well, This track does not quite have the spark of the best on here but it is still a very good track indeed and one that certainly has good appeal.

      6.) All Night Long

This is the first of two collaborations with Lil Wayne, As you would expect this is a very flowing track indeed with some great claps throughout and some fine beats as well. The falsetto is not used too much here but what Thicke offers is very melodic and Lil Wayne provides some fine vocals. This is a very strong rhythmic track.

      7.) Everything I Can't Have

This is not what you would expect at all, It opens with a full on horn section with a very Latin feel and He again showcases his magnificent falsetto. This is a very different track than any of the others on the track but it is another great one indeed, This really shows the variety of his music and is a great example of his artistry. A superb track.

      8.) Teach U A Lesson

This brings the album back to a slower mood with a lovely ballad which opens with soft guitar and a simple beat. His vocals come in with superb sincerity and this is one of the best tracks on the album. This track is about a relationship ending after the woman has cheated and although you want to keep the relationship going you just can't forgive them. Great, Great track.

      9.) I Need Love

This is a lovely soulful track which features subtle electric guitar with Robin's vocals over it, the beat then comes in and this is a truly brilliant track which has a stunning emotive feel which is a running theme throughout this album. This really is a stunningly beautiful ballad about needing someone to love you.

      10.) Wanna love you girl

This is a flowing track which features Pharrell Williams, This has a typically flowing Neptunes type beat and hooks. This is a very catchy track which features some understated vocals from both and some multi layered beats which require you to listen carefully to pick out them all. This is a very decent collaboration which again shows the variety on the album.

      11.) Can U Believe

This was the third single from the album and is another wonderfully emotive ballad. It features some wonderfully gentle piano playing and then once the beat comes in it really progresses into a tender ballad which really shows off the vocal talent of Robin Thicke. This is a wonderful track which is up there with the best on the album.

      12.) Shooter

This is the second collaboration with Lil Wayne on the album and features a funky beat and bass hook which is key to the song, This is not as good as the collaboration with Lil Wayne on the Something Else "Tie My Hands" but it's up there with the other collaboration with Lil Wayne on this album.
A decent mid tempo track with some great beats. This track also appears on Lil Wayne's 5th album "Tha Carter II"

      13.) Cocaine

This is a very funky track which features a catchy high electric guitar tone which has a Curtis Mayfield feel about it. This is a very flowing track indeed which features some great loops and bass hooks. You can't help but tap your feet or nod your head to this track as it has just such a flowing feel. Good stuff.

      14.) 2 The Sky

This is another beautiful ballad, I really love the backing strings and the gorgeous piano tones as well as the awesome falsetto from Robin Thicke. This is one of the best tracks on the album and is wonderful in all three areas vocals, music and lyrics. A really superb track which erupts towards the end with a superb climax.

      15.) Lonely World

Another wonderful track here, This track is about a series of people who are going through problems, It starts with a young woman who has lost her way and is on her own and then a boy who is dealing with having a father who is an alcoholic, This is an absolutely superb track and is kind of the song format of Crash. Great story telling and a really beautiful song.

      16.) Angels

This is the final track on the album and at 8 minutes 35 seconds is also the longest by about two minutes thirty seconds. It's an absolutely brilliant ballad which really tops off the album. This is a lovely stripped down piano ballad with his gorgeous vocals really shining. This is a stupendously stunning track which deserves to be heard in it's entirety as it becomes a monumental ballad with some great guitar work and drums.

      **Overall**

This is a truly stunning album from one of my favourite solo artists, he may not be as big as the likes of Robbie Williams but he is a damn sight better. Just try and listen to that falsetto and not think of Marvin Gaye. You can't do it. This is an extraordinary album of beauty, range and craftsmanship. If you love this album then Check out his latest album Sex Therapy which was released in 2009. In summary The Evolution of Robin Thicke is simply stunning.
