... feeling somewhat exhausted however. I loved this album before I became interesting in Industrial music, which granted, can be repetitive and headache-inducing for the uninitiated. This far exceeds your average Industrial album however. This is a two disc album, split into 'Left' and 'Right'. Musical highlights on the album for me include: * We're In This Together Now. Powerful, heart renching and always brings a smile to my face. I also recommend you try to watch the video for this. The guitar piece is exceptional...more

Crowned ReviewThe Fragile - Nine Inch Nails: Fragile but powerful (1085 words)

Rating:

With the music business becoming increasingly manufactured and meaningless, more and more people are looking for an alternative which provides a deeper, more complex form of aural pleasure. The rise of angst-ridden pop-punk seems to reflect this, but for those who like their music with a bit more bite, Nine Inch Nails may provide the perfect solution. NIN is essentially the musical output of one man, Trent Reznor, who rose to fame in the late 80’s with songs like Head Like a Hole. For those of you who think you’ve never heard of NIN, you’ve probably heard their songs on film soundtracks (Final Destination, the opening credits to Se7en, The Lost Highway,  Read the complete review

Powerful Beauty / Powerful Anger (354 words)

Rating:

This is without a doubt my favourite album. If you want a rollercoaster of emotion, from boiling anger to sublime beauty and calm, this is the album for you. Although commercially not as much as a success as the previous album The Downward Spiral, I think this is more of an artistic achievement. The two disc album is very layered, with excellent songs individually but I recommend playing loud, in one setting. The effect of the songs blending into one another, with repeated tunes in different mediums is excellent and adds to the experience. You may leave the sitting feeling somewhat exhausted however. I loved this album before I became interesting in ...  Read the complete review

In 1999, Nine Inch Nails released ?their? third full-length album, ?The Fragile.? NIN?s 1994 album, the moody and incredibly heavy industrial effort of ?The Downward Spiral,? was a huge success, leading to it being regarded by many critics and magazines as the best rock album of that quite competitive year, and it was five years before Trent Reznor released ?The Fragile.? Since NIN began in the late eighties, the band has basically consisted of Trent Reznor, and whoever he brings along to live gigs. Trent essentially is Nine Inch Nails; he writes the lyrics ...  Read the complete review

The Last True Great Album of the 20th Century (1562 words)

Rating:

By 1996, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails (NIN) had everything. His last album "the downward spiral" had sold over two million copies; he had made a lot of money for his work on the "Natural Born Killers" soundtrack and contributions to artists like Tori Amos and David Bowie; he also gained the respect of the artists he admired in his youth, David Bowie, Adam Ant, Lou Reed, and Iggy Pop; and a new studio in his new home of New Orleans. It seems he had everything but the two years of touring and working had burned him out. Earlier, Reznor lost his pet dog Maise who fell in an accident and during and after the tour for "the downward ...  Read the complete review

The Fragile - Nine Inch Nails: FRAGILE!? your kidding right? (2149 words)

Despite what the title says it's a masterfully constructed complex hard hitting piece of art. I was completely amazed when I first heard it. To know that this is all done by Trent Reznor himself is just incredible and he proves to be one of the most creative people in rock music ever. Not nearly as depressing as Downward can be. I've been quoted to saying this is the "Heavy-Metal Wall" and while it's not a giant story opera like the wall the similiarities are there and I stand behind it. hell even it's case is new and different. Left Disc How to start and album? Trent answers that question with the incredible SOMEWHAT DAMAGED. The ...  Read the complete review
