Advantages: Unique sounding
Disadvantages: Lacks a little energy
THE FUTUREHEADS, a four man indie rock band from Sunderland provide their unique sounding album Futureheads.
There are fifteen tracks on this album with a couple of radio mixes as well.
The best song on the album is THE CITY IS HERE FOR YOU TO USE. The vocals on this song are good as is the guitar that really lifts the song.
Another catchy song is CARNIVAL KIDS where the guitar really gives an energy to the song.
The album opens with LE GARAGE an unusual song that sets the feel of the album with a catchy sound.
ROBOT, MEANTIME AND MANRAY are very catchy songs that get better and better after you first hear them.
I wasn't so keen on STUPID AND SHALLOW or DANGER OF THE WATER as I don't think in either song the music has the same positivity as the rest of the album.
HOUNDS OF LOVE is a cover of Kate Bush's song and quite agood cover it is. Not as haunting as Bush's voice the band give the song a bit more tempo.
A TO B and DECENT DAYS AND NIGHTS are steady tracks on the album and are better than just album filler as the fast paced nature of the songs gets your head bobbin up and down.
FIRST DAY and HE KNOWS are average songs that lack a bit of energy whle TRYING NOT TO THINK ABOUT TIME makes up for the lost energy in these songs by focusing all it's energy on the wonderful lyrics as does ALMS.
A good album from THE FUTURHEADS with a different sound to most indie rock bands due to the wonderful use of instruments. Some of the songs are needing a little more energy or positivity.
FrOm 8.98 at AMAZON this may well be to your liking if you like new indie rock bands.
Summary: The futureheads look to the future!
