Advantages: Much better than it's predecessor, back to form

Disadvantages: Tracks still a bit too alike, drumming gets weary

Next up is New Model Army's 3rd album The Ghost of Cain which is better than the 2nd album by quite a long distance, this one seems to have a variety in music, lyrics, style and the songs are more complete than the unfulfilling specimens on the previous album.

The album blasts out from start to finish with a lot less slower songs than in the previous two albums, particularly good are the well known 51st state (written by Ashley Cartwright of The Shakes) which is catchy and anti-American imperialism whilst remaining quite humorous and Poison Street, an upbeat track with folk elements to it that starts off with a good riff which is matched by an awesome mouth organ solo mid-way.

Western Dream is another one that embraces a unique NMA sound and is a great example of 80's New Wave music. Whilst each song is faultless due to it's superb production, musical and lyrical content, I do feel that the songs are still a bit too alike and even a bit depressing!
