Advantages: Many good songs, easier to listen to than recent work

Disadvantages: Some fillers, too long

Although the group now disregard this album, favouring a more experimental and harder sound, I think this is probably their most appealing album, as it makes less demands on the listener than other albums, and is based around a collection of good songs, rather than a concept.

It is probably one of the best albums from the 'britpop' movement, as the feel is much more classical, and less of being trapped within that movement than albums by, say, Oasis. Although Country House can begin to annoy you after several listens, songs such as Charmless Man, Universal and Best Days, rank among the best things that Blur have ever done. The sound is quite pop-based compared to their more recent work, and there are less self-indulgent guitar solos.

A couple of songs towards the end of the album are not so good, and the album is maybe a bit too long, but it is still worth buying due to the quality of the rest of the songs.
