drum loops and samples. It has a tribal feeling with tribal style vocal samples and traditional instruments like the shekere, berimbau and djembe. "Shooz" is almost entirely percussion, with H Herbie Hancock not playing and instruments and lasts just over a minute - a nice little aside in the music. Following "shooz" is the melody. It s a hip-hop track with underlying piano and sax, merging the two genres perfectly. Not many musicians can pull off scratch dj s alongside jazz piano! This track reminds me a lot of a couple of the tracks from the soundtrack of Grand Theft Auto - San Andreas. The fifth track on " Dis is Da Drum" is ...

field of jazz. Here I will look at a few of his best tracks from the Cantaloupe Island album. Watermelon Man of course remains to be Herbie Hancock s most well known track. The gospel influence is unmistakable as the piano riff is a common progression found in gospel music. But with this Hancock composed a jazz standard that allows for free jazz improvisation. I really have no idea why it is called Watermelon Man but the end of one of the sections sounds an awful lot like how you might say Watermelon Man. The recorded version of the song does go on a little bit too long without alot happening, I would prefer perhaps a little more improvisation. Blind Man, Blind ...
