The Iron Man - Pete Townsend

Incredibly disappointing - Advantages: I guess I shouldn't have expected much from the Bargain Bin..., Hey, at least the movie was decent., The liner notes are kind of cool... - Disadvantages: The best rock operas and showtunes make you forget they're rock operas and show tunes. This one... doesn't. It's all too apparent exactly how cheesy this stuff is., The yrics, the music, the guest stars -- none are very inspiring here. I can't think of a single redeeming feature, aside from those mentioned above., Pete can do and has done better than this. Light-years better.

Ted Hughes wrote the children's classic book, The Iron Man in 1968. Twenty one years later and it's been given the Pete Townshend treatment and turned into a Rock Opera. The thread of the story stays true to the book, as well as the characters. Briefly, the story is about a young boy called Hogarth who encounters the Iron Man. The Iron Man has been eating all the metal that he's found, which has displeased the former owners of the metal things that the Iron Man has devoured (with me so far?).
