'The IVth Crusade' is an underrated Bolt Thrower release compared to the praise heaped on its predecessor 'War Master,' but it suffers from the same problems of similarity and slight boredom. Bolt Thrower are largely known today for their slow and steady approach to war-themed death metal, and this is where that repetitive style really begins, eliminating the last traces of grind as Andy Whale's drums settle into standard double bass pedal death metal, though the efforts of talented guitar duo Gavin Ward and Barry Thompson keeps this far above the rest of the genre, as they get better with each release.
