This has to be U2's finest hour.

It's a transitional time for them as they move from their hard-core followers - who have followed them from their early days of Boy, October and War - to mainstream acceptance that will follow shortly after the release of this album.

You really get a sense of feeling about the desert as the sounds created from track to track really puts you in the heart of Joshua Tree country.

Right from the start U2 get into gear with the first 5 tracks becoming anthems in their own right. But don't turn off after Running to Stand Still because there's more great stuff to follow.

In God's Country has all the hallmarks of, what we now call, classic U2 whilst Exit really resonates. But for me, the outstanding track on the album (other than the obvious choices) has to be Mothers of the Disappeared. It's soft haunting melody really tells the story of the Mothers who lost their son's so tragically.

A great album by a great band and try as they might they cannot repeat this success!
