Catherine Bush recorded her first demo under the financial guidance of Dave Gilmour from Pink Floyd. Presenting it with shaky hands to giants EMI, they signed her and she quickly issued her fist single. The self penned ‘Wuthering Heights’ went straight to number making her the very first British female solo artist to accomplish this feat. Followed only a month later by her release of her first album, ‘The Kick Inside,’ went almost achieved equal success by placing itself at number three in the album chart. An album written totally by herself, she had already been well experienced in singing and writing. Forming her first band titled KT Bush with her brother, Paddy ... Read the complete review

Kate Bush was discovered in 1975 when David Gilmour of Pink Floyd recommended her to record company EMI. Gilmour immediately knew that she was a rare talent and on releasing this debut album Kate would soon reveal herself to be a true eccentric genius. All of the songs featured here on The Kick Inside were written while she was a teenager and this includes the chart topping single Wuthering Heights, which had been released as a single prior to the album. It established Kate as not only a unique talent but one who may even turn out to be indispensable. Wuthering Heights was the first ever Number 1 UK single to be both written and performed by a female artist, an ... Read the complete review

The album: The Kick Inside. The Artist: Kate Bush. Dave |Gilmour of Pink Floyd was the man who discovered the young Kate Bush and to sum up Kate’s own words set the ball rolling. The fruit of her work was to be the album “The Kick Inside”. The album was two years in the making but contained work that was mature beyond the young Kates’ years. Two tracks were recorded in June 1975 with Dave Gilmour producing although his work commitments kept him from producing the second batch of tracks. This work was taken over by Andrew Powell with Gilmour retaining his role as executive producer. The album starts ... Read the complete review

Kate released 'The Kick Inside' in 1978 way before I was born. Looks like I missed out the most greatest opportunity to rush out and buy this album!! This album is outstanding infact. This is the type of music I would like to see out in the charts. Unfortunately times have changed and we get more teeny boppers taking club music and awful pop music to the top of the charts. None of it is hardly sensational. Seems like the same old thing every week. Its quite sad really. I'd just love to see Kate Bush make a come back and hit the number one spot. But I doubt she will ever get there even with the great music she produces unless, she did the sort of music that ... Read the complete review

1978 saw the arrival on the music scene of an amazing young talent by the name of Kate Bush. The new wave explosion was just starting to quieten down after the controversy and hatred provoked by the Clash and the Pistols. It was an odd time for a sensuous singer with a startling vocal range and a penchant for slow paced ballads, theatrical performance and heavy duty piano to make a breakthrough, but Bush's startling debut with the phenomenal Wuthering Heights single with its oddly engaging shrieks whoops and wide eyed fear all over Top of the Pops got her noticed in a big way. The single sped to the top of the charts and had a strange effect on people, ... Read the complete review
