Advantages: some really great songs
Disadvantages: their last album
The libertines was the second studio album from the band the libertines, it was also their last to date and in my opinion a lot better than their first one as well. I first got into them after hearing some of the songs off their first album which was great and so as soon as this one came out, it was a must have album.
The first song gets the album off to the best possible start, cant stand me now is one of the best songs off the album and from the band, it's got a real punchy drum and guitar style and is really strong in pace. I just love how both of the singers, Pete and Carl sound almost as if they are battling for the microphone all the way through this song and trying to out do each other it's a great song.
The man who would be king is a relatively slow song from the album, its sung by Pete and although his vocals aren't perfect I suppose this is his style and it does sound good. The songs chorus could be a bit better than it is, it's a bit simple but I suppose its catchy and easy to remember.
What Katie did is another song that I really like, perhaps its just because of the start of the song, the guitar and the two boys singing together almost sounds a bit like the beatles, but after that the song gets going and the lyrics are going and his vocal performance is much stronger in this song.
My absolute favourite song from this album through is what became of the likely lads, I do really like the first song off this album, cant stand me now but I think this one just edges it. They are both fairly similar songs though as the pace of the songs are the same, very fast, the guitar sound the same and the two boys singing together and battling for lyrics is similar as well, but it makes great songs.
