Advantages: Down and Dirty Rock Music with a lilthing sensitive side
Disadvantages: None
The Second and final album (so far) from the short lived but amazing band - The Libertines. One of my favourite albums in the world, something which never grows old, and a record that will have a special place in the heart of fans fot a long time to come.
THE BEST TRACKS:
Cant Stand me Now: Probably one of 'The Libertines' most famous tracks, a puncy rock number presented as an antiphonal duet between the two font men, Pete and Carl, narrating the demise of their friendship, a lot of which is blamed on Pete's herion addiction - a really sad but amazing tune.
The Man Who Would be King: Another up beat and punchy number, characterised by a strong drum beat and recurring two note them on keys - has a distinctive eastern European sound with some intersting backing vocals.
Music when the lights go out - What I like about this tune is that it shows the libertines talent for slow numbers as well as fast rock ones - again this tune is biographical, illustrating Petes dependence on drugs taking over his life - remembering the good times the friends had together.
What Katie Did - This is possibly one of my favourite songs ever - as far as Im concerned it is catchy and harmonically advanced. Not actually written for Kate Moss contrary to popular belief. This track is a fast but chilled out little number that has an esscence of 'Mersey Beat' - Unlike many of the Libertines music which has a distinct rough and ready East London sound - this track protrays the innocence associated with the North of England - Liverpool in Particular.
This is a great album - it may take a few listens - but it will be appreciated!
Summary: Emotional - but not in the emo sense
