ABC.

Album - Look of love: The Very Best of ABC.

Album is a single CD, containing 17 songs, as the title suggests 'The Best of ABC'.

Front cover shows Martin Fry reclining in his famous GOLD Suit. Back cover shows the 17 track titles and an empty theatre with just fry's jacket hanging over a chair, suggesting he's on the stage?

Inside is a shockingly red CD and small front cover booklet. This contains some information on martin and some of his songs.
Centrefold is martin reclining in his shockingly loud gold suit.
As with 'Tears for fears', ABC where of the early eighties and had a very distinctive and recognisable sound.

Fry was born in 1958 in Manchester. He was initially asked to join a band put together by Mark White (Guitarist) and Steve Singleton (Saxophonist) but soon he took over the band and gave it its distinctive sound. They where signed up by Phonogram records in 1981.

Success was soon to follow with their releases of 'TEARS ARE NOT ENOUGH, POISON ARROW' and 'THE LOOK OF LOVE'.

1. The look of love - 1982
2. All of my heart - 1982
3. Poison arrow - 1982
4. When Smokey sings - 1987
5. That was then but this is now - 1983
6. Tears are not enough - 1981
7. How to be a millionaire - 1984
8. The night you murdered love - 1987
9. Peace and tranquillity - 2001
10. One better world - 1989
11. S.O.S. - 1984
12. King without a crown - 1987
13. Be near me - 1985
14. Ocean blue - 1986
15. Vanity kills - 1984
16. The real thing - 1989
17. Blame - 2001

1982 saw the band Cracking the American market with the help of MTV, where 'The look of love and Poison Arrow' where constantly on air.

Although numerous albums where subsequently released and a small revival of 'New Romatic' music happened in the late nineties the band never came back into vogue.

They continue to tour on a small scale.

In my humble opinion, This album really does contain ALL the best that ABC produced.

Greg.

Summary: Still sounds good, especially when smokey sings.

I might get this sounds great I had forgotten some of the songs but looking at this review reminded me of how great the band were. Are they still going or have they disbabded like so many others?
