I always think that more albums are released in the run up to Christmas than at any other time of the year. Artists are all vying to have the top selling album at Christmas and the one that appears on the most Christmas lists across the country. So it was no surprise to me when I learnt of Westlife’s planned release on the 20th November 2006 of their latest album entitled “The Love Album.” Westlife formed back in 1998 and so in their 8th year of fame it comes as no shock to learn that this is their 8th album to be released and also chart at number 1. The album contains 11 tracks in total and also their 14th number 1 single “The Rose.” Now when I first looked ... Read the complete review

As you might have guessed from the title, this album is themed around love. All of the tracks relate to love in some way, and most of them are covers. This is quite fitting considering that Westlife are widely renowned for producing endless cover versions of other people's songs. In this review, I will be offering my verdict on the album on a track-by-track basis. In brackets after each track title, you will find the name of the artist(s) that made the song famous. 1. The Rose (Bette Midler) When it was released in 2006 as the only single release from the album, it hit #1 in the UK charts. Lyrically, it offers encouragement for people who are so ... Westlife bought out this album of love songs in 2006. The cover of the CD is black and has a picture of the 4 boys sitting on and around a brown chair and one of them holding a rose. The title is to the side of the picture in gold and silver lettering. The back cover of the album is also black and has a rectangle outlined in gold with the track list in and the CD info at the bottom right hand corner. THE SONGS 1 - The Rose - The run time for this song is 3.40. The song was published by Warner Chappell. This is a typical song which you would expect to hear Westlife singing, it is a typical ballad and it really suits their voices. 2 - ... Read the complete review

Up until yesterday, I didn't even know that I owned a Westlife album. I am having a clearout, as I seem to have more 'stuff' than I have space to put it, and I came across a box of CD's and DVD's including Westlife's Love Album. I can only assume I received this as a Christmas present, either that or it was one of the many rubbish CD's my dad palms off on me every now and then! I'm not a huge Westlife fan, and although it's not normally the sort of thing I'd listen to, I don't mind them, so I've been listening to this while doing some work tonight. ~About the Album~ I guess most people will have heard of Westlife, the Irish boy band, who released ... I became a fan of Westlife when they were formed in 1998. Ten years on I would still class myself as a fan of theirs. The simple reason for this is because their music is so easy to listen to and I can't honestly say that there is one song that they have produced that I have hated. I will admit that there have been a couple that I'm not as fond of but there isn't any that I physically can't listen to. Now I know that the Westlife boys aren't exactly everyone's cup of tea and that their remakes of classic songs and on stage 'moves' don't always make them popular but this factor doesn't bother me in the slightest, as the boys themselves can actually sing, not ...
