Introduction L Luther Vandross died aged 54 when he lost his battle after having a stroke in 2003. I was shocked and saddened at his death as he was relatively young. There was a huge sense of loss in the music industry with several big stars coming out with tributes to his life and music with a star studded album released in 2005 of covers of some of his finest songs. Those involved on the album include such legends as Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Celine Dion, Babyface, Elton John and Patti Labelle aswell as younger stars like Usher, Beyonce, Fantasia Burrino, Angie Stone and Alicia Keys, Wyclef Jean, John Legend and Jamie Foxx. People will undoubtetly ...

I was about 18 when I heard his music, and most of his music even now when I hear it reminds me of certain times of my life. Luther was born in 1951 In New york city, he grew up in the Bronx, his main passion in life was music and began playing the piano at the age of three. He grew up listening to Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross and was greatly influenzed by their music. His father sadley died when Luther was only eight years old. Luther attended Western Michigan University but dropped out to pursue his musical career. ...
