I can't help but think I should enjoy listening to this album somewhat more than I do. 'The New Fellas' is the second of the three albums so far released by Gary, Ryan and Ross, the three brothers from Yorkshire. I bought this album a couple of years ago after it popped up in the Indie charts list on Amazon, and listened briefly to a couple of tracks on Myspace. It seemed like a good idea at the time. it came under a list of similar artists to my taste, and on the surface appeared to have all the makings of another in a recent trend of catchy indie-rock albums. Unfortunately, after listening just a couple of times, it has been effectively discarded ... Read the complete review

Oh go on then, I'll review another band that thoroughly impressed me at Reading Festival this year, and probably my surprise package of the whole weekend. Before they came on stage, I knew only one song by the Cribs, a three-piece all brother band - Martell; and knew absolutely nothing else. When they finished I was totally converted, so felt it necessary to buy an album! That album being "The New Fellas" - the band's second album released on Wichita records, after their debut self-titled release in 2004. Obviously, 'Indie' would describe the band's style best of all, but after listening to them straight away, an Northern England version of the ... Read the complete review

The Cribs are a 3 piece (well know 4 piece with the recent joing of Johnny Marr as guitarist but this album was produced as a 3 piece) from twins Ryan (guitarist and lead vocals) and Gary (Bass and vocals) and Ross (Drums). The New Fellas is their second album, they are not a particuarly mainstream band but have quite a large cult audience and are well known and respected in the Indie scene. Hey Scensters Voted 42nd in a poll for 50 Greatest Indie Anthems Of All Time, the song has chugging, punky guitars, a heavy rhythm section and the lovely Wakefield twang of the two twins Gary and Ryan. Its a stab at 'scenesters', follows of a scene. Ironic seeing as ... Read the complete review

THE NEW FELLAS is the title of northern indie rock band THE CRIBS. The album features 11 tracks which I will review. The opening song HEY SCENESTERS is an energetic track with great instrumental work that brings in lead singer Ryan Jarman's strong vocals. Decent lyrics and better melodies. I'M ALRIGHT is a more mellow track with good lyrics that tell a story. The rhythm is perfectly paced with the guitar ading an extra edge. MARTELL starts with a cracking intro which carries on to the chorus which is quite catchy. MIRROR KISSES has a sing along chorus and produces a feel good effect with it's upbeat tempo and rhytmical ... Read the complete review

Bands like the cribs come along rarely, when a small collection of people can unknowingly act as the voice of a generation, and do it so well it really is a true gift to music. In this case that collection of people is made up of twins ryan and gary jarman and thier brother ross jarman and now their newly appointed guitarist jonny marr (the smiths) originaly from wakefield now the bands success is worldwide. The cribs bring back that great punk/rock and roll sound that was so alive in the 70s and 80s, sounding like a modern buzzcocks or ramones and at the same time sounding like nothing you've heard before. This album paralles the first both in quality and content, with ... Read the complete review
