25 tracks of some of the best punk ever, this album encapsulates all the best work of Manchester punk rockers Slaughter & The Dogs. The Dogs were undoubtedly a main player in the punk world and have been cited by the likes of Joy Division, New Order and Morrisey as influences they supported the Sex Pistols at Manchester Lesser Free Trade Hall on 20 July 1976 and frequently played live at the Roxy throughout 76, headlining while bands like The Adverts and The Lurkers had to make do with being supporting acts.

The Dogs are unfairly overlooked in my eyes and should be heard much more today! This is a compilation of tracks that was released in 2000 by Captain Oi!

This album starts off with two powerful early tracks, possibly their most famous single "Cranked Up Really High" and the
'cover your ears children' track "The Bitch" before moving on to 78 skinhead hooligan related single "Where Have All The Boot Boys Gone?" gets full points for its lyrics "Where Have All The Boot Boys Gone
Hammy Jacker Bugs And John", other stand out tracks are It's Alright which has more of a New York sound to it like that of The Dead Boys, Edgar Allan Poe which sounds like a punkier version of an early Public Image track, that is to say there's a lot of mad ranting! UFO which is my favourite track of the lot, it's very glam.. again a mixture of New York early proto punk but with the lyrics have a catchyness of certain T-Rex tracks and there's also some great rock n roll guitar solos thrown in, with catchy lyrics like Move Man Move, Watch Him Go
Fly Man Fly Man Like A U--- Like A A U.F O will have it in your head for hours afterwards!

This is a superb collection of every A and B track ever made by Slaughter & The Dogs and is probably a better choice than other compilations which have a similar range of songs like Cranked Up Really High. It also previously unheard tracks (at least on CD) like "You're Ready Now", 2 tracks by Studio Sweethearts (featuring The Cult's Jimmy Duffy in his early days) and acoustic versions of 'Since You Went Away', 'Situations', 'You're A Bore' & 'I'm Mad'

      Not bad for hounds!
