The Punk Singles Collection - UK Subs

There are currently two UK SUBS singles CDs out, this one and another called singles 1978-1982. This Cd for me is the better of the two as if gives a far greater over view of their (never ending) career. On this CD you get a run through the the classic UK SUBS tracks like Stranglehold and Tomorrows girl onto the more pop side of their releases with Party in Paris and Keep on Running. There is even the novelty track Hey Santa, couple this with the brilliant guitar work on Sabre Dance (who said punks can't play their instruments) and Barmy London Army and you have a good cross section of the Sub's work. I'm a huge fan of the UK Subs, in fact they are probably my favourite punk band of all time and therefore I have quite a collection of albums but to newcomers of their music then the compilation The Punk Singles Collection is definitely a very fun record to have but lacks a number of their good singles and you are best off going for The Singles 1978-82 which has a much better selection of tracks Charlie Harper's vocals are as coarse as ever, making him sound like a brute from Eastenders as he belts out classic catchy choruses or political messages, this one starts off in style with top tracks like Stranglehold, Tomorrow's Girl and Warhead but after about Track ...  Read the complete review
