 ... There's Gold' kicks off the fifth studio album by Dashboard Confessional. One guitar comes from the left speaker/headphone and the other from the right side creating a very cool effect. But the song isn't overly amazing and is quite forgetful. 'Thick As Thieves' is shortest song on the album but one of my favourites. Vocals, music and lyrics are all good. It's very catchy. 'The Shade of Poison Trees' sees a return to the acoustic roots of the band, which contrasts the direction of the songs in the band's previous release 'Dusk and Summer'. Half of the songs are very slow with the other half being faster. Despite me normally being a fan of Dashboard Confessional's previous slower acoustic songs, the slower songs on this album really do bore me. The faster songs on the album such as 'Little Bombs', 'Fever Dreams' and 'Thick As Thieves' really stand out as something special. The length of the songs are much shorter on this album, with just one track lasting over 3 minutes. This leaves you wanting more of the good songs, ...  Read the complete review
