The Shondes are a female-fronted indie punk band from New York City who combine elements of traditional Jewish music and classical music into punk rock/indie. The band's debut album - The Red Sea, comes with good pedigree as it was produced by Tony Maimone of They Might be Giants and Pere Ubu, the arse licking critics have labeled The Shondes - a revelation and a breath of fresh air but I don't find their approach particularly radical. The album has as many annoying tracks as it does catchy melody, the key is clearly in the catchy guitar riffs, the vocals vary from a similar sound to Dolores O'Riordan from The Cranberries at her best through to the most ...
