      Very helpful

a great new band that you will either love or hate

The description here say that the leisure socity are an indie rock/punk band. Well they are not. Indie? yes but i feel the punk and rock part of it couldn't be further from the mark. A better way to describe them might be alternative or slightly on the classical side. The fact is it is difficult for me to find a genre for this band to go in and usually that is what makes a great band. A band that has been able to think inbetween the lines and make music that has a distinctive style, different from any other band out there.

Every track on this debut album by the band which consists of seven members is a masterpeice in it's own right. The band was formed by Nick Hemming who also writes most of the songs and is the lead singer. The song 'last of the melting snow was nominated for an Ivor Novello best song both muscially and lyrically award in 2009. I dont know exactly but the band consists of two ukulele and guitar players, a few violings, drums, flute and other, more simlpe instruments. It may sound like a bit of a strange mix but the culmination of these instruments makes an orchestra of sound that ressinate well with my ear drums at least. The music is put together in such a way that it flows nicely through the song and the album promoting a mix of emotions throughout listening to it. The album is made up of mostly cheerful songs and a few more depressing but all sound amazing in their own way and are all quite relaxing songs. The kind of songs i listen to when i want to go to sleep.

The lesiure society is a band that are on their second album and apart from recieving great critical acclaim in quite a niche market in the music industry i dont think their music is ever going 'go large' and be heard by a wider audience. But thats probably a good thing seeing as most bands that get played on the radio tend to sell out very quickly indeed. Its definatly special music, it wont appeal to everyone but give it a listen anyway, you might love it.
