The single- Discipline- is a highlight, with it's ... more ... characteristically Nails not-so-subtle nods to sexual deviancy and its not so characteristically Nails catchy beat. When it was first released I spent a couple of happy hours dancing round the kitchen in a very non-goth kind of way humming "I neeeeeed your discipline!! I neeeed your help!" in the same off-key way I imagine Trent was, but after the novelty wore off I felt a bit empty, because there's no depth to the track. The new NIN album The Slip was released firstly as a Radiohead-style affordable-dowload from nin.com, before the physical copy disk was released- which I think was a very successful move for Reznor, as although a fair bunch of fans chose the $5 (£2.60 odd) download (high-quality mp3 format), myself included, still more chose the $10 (instant mp3, including a pre-order of the disk), and 2500 copies of the ultra-expensive signed boxed limited edition $300 vinyl format had also been pre-ordered within days of the announcement on nin.com.
