Advantages: fun filled pop
Disadvantages: samey
Peaking in 2007, quirky band The Hoosiers swiftly delivered their own unique brand of comedy guitar pop. My biggest worry for the group was, whether they were going to be a one trick pony though.
Who are they:
UK based group who deliver bright and energetic guitar indie pop.
On this album:
'Worried About Ray' spent a lifetime in the singles chart, bounding up and down like a yoyo thanks to non-stop airplay through the summer of 2007. It is a catchy breezy pop track with comic touches. Much in the same vein was 'Worst Case Scenario', a deliciously catchy and bright pop track, despite the lyrics, the group delivered it with panache.
'Goodbye Mr. A' harks back to the seventies with the melody and will likely conjure up images of ELO for many. It is one of the highlights on the album.
Other Highlights:
'Cops And Robbers' is good old fashioned hokum fun. The jaunty piano runs through it and keeps it ticking along at great speed and once again the comedic timing of the lyrics will amuse you. 'Sadness Runs Through Him' manages to showcase a more sincere and deeper side to the group, much needed on an album full of jovial material
Overall:
A fun filled guitar pop album which will please for the duration but could grate after a few listens. Too much of a good thing can get annoying
Summary: fun
