I have a very varied taste in music and one album that has recently been added to my collection is Billy Ocean's The Ultimate Collection. I can probably imagine people cringing at me saying that however I am not quite sure what encouraged me to add tgis to my ever expanding collection of CD's however I am extremely glad that I did.

Billy Ocean is an R n B singer of the 1980's. Born in Trinidad and Tobago and moving to London in his early years, Billy Ocean is otherwise know as Leslie Sebastian Charles and acquired his stage name as he lived on what was Ocean Estate in London. His first release and debut single came in 1976, with Love Realy Hurts without you, which I think is probably the song that made me purchase this album in the first place as I have really had a liking for this sing ever since I was child. This particular track, comes across to me as Motown in which I have always had a passion for and reached number 2 in the Uk charts and also made it big in America with his debut single. The song is related to an obsession with a girl and that he would do anything for her, and he is jealous that other men are giving her attention and this hurts. Its a catchy track and one of those that you always seem to hear when you go to family parties and they have them rally rubbish DJ's, well if that is what you can call them.

Billy Ocean has produced some classic tracks with plenty of variation from pretty funky beats to ballads and its gives this album a lot of variation. Suddenly, another track on the album, is a track that reminds of Lionel Riche a little bit and their is a slight comparison between the two artists. His voice on this track is absolutely fantastic and the lyrics of the track are profound.

At a very early age I can remember watching Top of the Pops and Billy Ocean being on their singing something a little bit different, Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car. I used to love this track as a kid and still really like it today. It was quite a raunchy track for that period of time, has a good beat to it and a pleasure to have on the album.
