Loving The Fall ... a unique thing indeed, a thankless, morbid, fascinating case of kicking against the pricks, going against the grain and being endlessly pitied ... in its way as masochistic an occupation as being a follower of Leeds United, and for my sins a twin peaks of insanity which will earn you knowing sideways glances and a nudge nudge wink wink sigh of concern ... not many are chosen and few stay the course... At last! After almost a year of recomendations dooyoo have put a Fall record in the music category! And what a record! Forever underated (aside from a brief foray into the top 40 in the mid-eighties) The Fall - in all its various guises - and its chirpy frontman, Mark E Smith, have constantly managed to produce sounds which challenge your brain. Rather than sit back and listen to the complacent drone of todays pre-fabricated bands why not listen to something a bit less nice? A bit less safe?
