The Best Garage Anthems Ever
by lynseywillson - written on 29/08/00 (Very useful, 825 readings)
Rating:
me £15.99 from Virgin and is a double cd. Each cd has 20 tracks of the best Garage tunes around at the moment. Including Artists like Dreem Teem, Artful dodger, B15 Project, Craig David, DJ Luck & MC Neat, Truesteppers and many more, it's a very enjoyable listen. I've played it twice already at full blast. (my poor next door neighbour!!). It's great if you're about to go out to the pub or out clubbing, it will really get you in the mood, although I bet you'll get there and think you've already been, as you'll probably hear the tunes again and again and again. The cover is red and black, and quite cool actually, so if you're ...
Songs In The Key Of X
by Ooze - written on 20/09/00 (Very useful, 36 readings)
Rating:
Well as the X-files craze first hit UK screens there was plenty of merchandise to cash in on it, and it was about that time I bought ‘Songs in the Key of X’, a compilation of ‘dark’ tracks related to the sci-fi series. Now that was back in 1996 and I doubt that more that many copies were sold, it was the one x-files product not to capture the public’s imagination, however I think it is immensely underrated and hardly the sci-fi compilation I expected. The tracklist brought to my attention for the first times stars like Sheryl Crow but there were a few I’d heard of like Elvis Costello and Alice Cooper, anyway here’s the tracklist; ...
Greatest Hits Of The 80s: A Decade Of Great Hits
by benlepensive - written on 02/03/09 (Very useful, 33 readings)
Rating:
With so many eighties compilations on the market, this one seems to fall somewhat wide of the mark, offering a paltry ten songs. Ten. Yes ten. This seems rather poor, considering most eighties albums offer at least twenty tracks. Anyway, let's see what it has to offer. Highlights The track choices are rather predictable. with the opening track 'Take My Breath Away' by Berlin. This is one of the giant eighties power ballads which calls to mind Tom Cruise in Top Gun. Pleasing vocals and an enticing melody help, but the song has dated quite badly. Speaking of dated songs, 'Flashdance' by Irene Cara is one for the ladies, I cannot imagine many guys getting that ...

To Serve Man - Cattle Decapitation
Some good guitar moments.
Songs lack any kind of coherent structure.
So Called Chaos - Alanis Morissette
easy to listen to full album without skipping tracks
It's only 45mins long, you have to put it on repeat a lot
Karma Bloody Karma - Cattle Decapitation
More of the same, for fans.
More of the same, for everyone else.
Inflikted - Cavalera Conspiracy
Balls out metal album from the masters
Aside from the lyrics? None
Humanure - Cattle Decapitation
More effort made to construct palatable songs.
Entirely unoriginal.
Homovore - Cattle Decapitation
You may get a cheap laugh.
Not fun.
Fuck You All - Carpathian Forest
some great songs/riffs, entertaining lyrics and songtitles, good vocals
some unengaging tracks, not as good as the previous album
Noir - Callisto
Skilled and progressive post-metal.
Still suffers the anxiety of influence.
Champion - The Audition
An amazing band with spine tingiling vocals
not their best album
Carnivore - Carnivore
Great mix of styles.
Semi-tongue-in-cheek chauvinism may put some people off.
