East 17 were the poor man's Take That some say. They held their own in a stiff boyband climate though and managed to notch up an impressive run of top ten hits. Despite attempts to reform, it never really came to fruition and they have always had to settle for runners up to Take That's pole position. The group comprised Tony, Brian, John and Terry. The music was written by Tony and Brian handled the majority of the lead vocals. The other two stood at the back and danced a bit. There are eighteen songs on this album. Now i'm not the hugest fan of Pop or chart music, very little to be honest and even in a cheesy, over-inflammed pop decade like the 1990s there were alot of manufactured and marketing pop acts who drove everyone crazy, even me as a little kid, Spice Girls were the prime suspects in what i'm talking about. But there were a few pop acts during this time who weren't manfactured and had a bundle of sophisticated songs (Take That wrote their own songs too, credit for that, pop acts rarely ever write their own songs but i never had anytime for Take That personally), one of them includes East 17 who wrote all their songs via a great pop writer in Tony Mortimer ...
