On their first two albums, it was evident that The E Eagles were trying to push the envelope out beyond country music, and get closer to rock'n'roll. With 'On The Border' they did it, thanks partly to their decision to fire British producer Glyn Johns after completing two tracks and basing themselves in Los Angeles with American working partner Bill Szymczyk, partly after recruiting additional guitarist Don Felder, listed on the cover as 'late arrival'. Taken as a whole, the ten songs straddle the line between both categories pretty well. To my mind the infectious 'Already Gone' was always one of their best songs ever, with its exuberant ...
