My disappointment in this album was immense. Not only is "The Virgin Suicides" COMPLETELY unlike Air's usual armada of great music, it is perhaps the most lethargic and unstimulating album of all time. The opening song, "Playground Love", is perhaps the only catchy piece on the entire album. It features a ballad-like beat and eerily poetic lyrics that create the dark undertones the movie was famous for. The rest of the CD, however, tries to capitalize on that and fails miserably. From the track "Dark Messages", which is nothing more than a slumbering bass beat with a few notes thrown in for what passes as harmony, to ... Read the complete review

Each remaining track seems to be built on the same theme found in Playground Love - the same theme is repeated over and over again - which is good for adding an air (pardon the pun!) of solidity to a movie, but a definite no-no as far as originality is concerned. For what you get with this album, it is VERY over-priced. It's like buying an ... Read the complete review

A hugely enjoyable electric guitar concerto with plenty of drama and lyricism
A bit repetitive towards the end
Beyond Fear - Beyond Fear
"Ripper" Owens back doing what he does best. In fact, the only thing he can do.
No attempt at originality.
Animosity - Berzerker
The drummer is technically accomplished.
He does the same thing nineteen times every second for twenty-eight minutes.
