The Warrior was Chariot's debut album and there is a noticeable difference between their music on this one and on later albums, even as soon as their next release Burning Ambition. First up, the vocals have a lot of balls to them, gravelly, short and fast they sound quite similar to Lemmy's of motorhead, he also leaves plenty of space for the musicians to concentrate on solos, heavy bass lines compliment some wicked guitar solos.
A particular favourite track is 'Take Your Hands Off Me' which sums up the album for me as the lyrics are catchy, uncomplicated and highly memeorable, the music is simply awesome and why the band gave up this style in favour for cheesy mediocrity I will never know. This album was released in 1984 and was never really well known but it stands strong still today and sounds like a hidden classic that if you didn't know any better you'd have thought was a top album of the year.
This album will appeal to any NWOBHM fans and don't make the mistake of thinking that the band's later albums are of the same quality because the band failed to impress follwoing this top-drawer debut. Straight to the point and deadly sounding!
