THE WAY IT WAS is a special release from the Elvis Presley specialist record label FTD. In 1970 Elvis had just returned to live performances, and pretty much beginning his Las Vegas career. A number of his 1970 performances were filmed and recorded for a film, THAT'S THE WAY IT IS. There have been a number of CD releases of concerts from this period, but this one is quite special.

THE WAY IT WAS is a combination book and CD set. The book is a 96 page hardback detailing all of the rehearsals and shows of this season, and is also filled with a great many of wonderful photos of The King at work. The CD is a compilation of a variety of rehearsal tracks and live performances which deserves to be heard by every Elvis fan. My favourite tracks on the CD are BLUE SUEDE SHOES and YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAY YOU LOVE ME although the dynamic version of MYSTERY TRAIN/TIGER MAN is worth the price of the CD alone.

This is an expensive set to own, but if you love Elvis' performances from this period then it is highly recommended.
