Advantages: Excellent music
Disadvantages: Not my favourite album of the band
Exile Waltz is the 2007 album by The Zydepunks, it's their 4th release and contains 1 song which was also on 9th Ward Ramblers. I'm yet to have listened to that album, so I cannot compare the versions of the song.
Bordreaux Crosses the Danube starts the album off with an insane fairground sound that starts with a fiddle heavy Irish taste before going on to a more dramatic, emotional klezmer sound and then going full throttle insanity with klezmer on speed. Despite being completely instrumental apart from the odd shout of ay ay, it's an astonishing way to start an album that really impressed me.
Big Man Walking in the Rain is another one with an Irish start only this time it sticks with it all the way through, adding a gravely Poguey sound, it's one of the best Irish sounding songs the band have made in their career. Josette is another great example of this band's variety, as they blend punky yet acoustic vocals with a top quality blend of folk music. Maraichane on the other hand is perhaps one of the less varied tracks but I will refrain from describing it as poor because it's anything but, sticking to one style just seems to allow them to show off their speedy musical skills. Overall this is another cracking album, it seems that The Zydepunks never fail to impress and I've loved all of their releases so far, what an excellent bunch of musicians.
