70s supergroup Emerson, Lake and Palmer present this double CD taken from their California Jam concert in 1974 and the 1997/8 tour.

Typical of the progressive stadium rock of the era, the 70s concert offers three long tracks that overstay their welcome with self-indulgent solos that seem to be there just for the sake of it.

However it’s all change for the current performance as ELP showcase the experience and maturity gained through their individual projects over the last 24 years. The solos become polished and they even manage to improve on their classic track Karn Evil 9.

If you found the excess of the 70s prog rock clique too much to stomach, you may be pleasantly surprised by this offering.
