Advantages: Personality is abundant
Disadvantages: Not for metalheads
There is nothing left to lose is the latest Foo Fighters album to hit the shelves. the Foo Fighters have not had an easy road in Britain, due to the prefered Pop/Dance music which everyone seems to listen to now. DO YOU NOT HAVE A MIND OF YOUR OWN!! But maybe sucess is not at the forefront of the foo's minds. They are one of those hard to find, amazing bands who aren't SELLOUTS. The color and the shape was the previous album from the band. After hearing it i wondered how they would ever beat it with a new album, "Is this the end of the Foos?" is the question which could have kept me up at night, but i had complete faith in Dave Grohl and look at what he did! This album beautifully followed the drama and more heavy previous album with a softer, slower but more dramatic masterpiece. It still has the fast songs such as Stacked Actors and Breakout, whilst more contemplative songs such as Next Year and Ain't it the Life add even more to the album. My favourite track is M.I.A., the last on the album, which merges both these elements of classic Foo Fighters in a way which was only before seen by Up In Arms and February Stars (both on the color and the shape). To say that this is the best Foo album would be demeaning to the work which the band have put in. Each album has its own story and personality, this one is of drama, struggle, hardship and pain, with the enduring outcome of "what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger" riding shotgun in the front seat.

- 03/12/00 You're right, it is a fantastic album, and it is a lot more chilled out that the first two, but, as you said, it doesn't mean it is the best. The foos tend to make each album different, making it difficult to decide which is best! Oh, the naughty scamps. Good review! |
