      Excellent Female Rapper

Remy Ma is a female rapper from New York that has been on the scene since 1999 but never really made an impact till she featured on the Terror Squad track Lean Back in 2004. There's Something About Remy:Based On A True Story was her début album that was released in 2006. Although the album says it's based on a true story on the cover it's not her life story it's things she has been around in her life. The album is very explicit and contains lots of swearing and references to drugs, crime and sex all the way through.

One of the main reasons I like Remy is because she is confident, fierce and doesn't forget her roots. One thing I hate more than anything is when an artist comes out as a female rapper makes there name then moves completely into another genre. Remy Ma has sustained her rapping and I doubt she will ever change although she is in prison at the moment so it will be a while before she releases anything new I suppose. I like her ghetto, edgy image and hope she has been writing new music that she can release when she comes out of prison.
      ----------Track Listing& Description Of Song---------
----"Pun's Words" - The album opens with words from the artist Big Pun and American Rapper that dies in 2000. Big Pun was a part of Terror Squad alongside Remy Ma.
----"She's Gone" - This single was a great way to start the album off. She raps throughout the song herself and things she has done/does. I really like the instrumental from this song because it remind me of instrumentals that where used in 90s rap songs.
----"Lights, Camera, Action" - This is probably my least favourite song on this album I think it has good lyrical content but I'm not to keen on the instrumental. I think it ruined the song a little because it overtakes her voice a little in parts of it.
----"Tight" (featuring Fat Joe) - This is one of my favourite songs on the album. The song has a really lively instrumental that sounds really good when loud with loads of base on it. I think once again the lyrical content is good and I like the way Fat Joe and Remy bounce of each other making the song flow really well.
----"Whuteva" - I like this song because it is really lively and fun and good to hear at a hip hop party.
      ----"Conceited Messages (skit)"
----"Conceited" - This song is quite catchy and has some really cocky quotes throughout. I like this song definitely has a lot of attitude and it shows she is pretty happy with herself to be rapping a song like this. This instrumental used for the song fits perfectly with the song because it just screams an atmosphere of 'look at me'. I enjoy listening to this song but I think some people may find it a little over the top with the cockiness.
----"Feels So Good"(featuring Ne-Yo) - This is an OK song and It brings a little R&B to the album which I liked because every album needs something a little different.
----"I'm" - The main thing that was good about this song was the lyrical content she has some really good bars and proves her rapping ability.
----"Thug Love" (featuring Big Pun) - This song is another good hip hop party song that I think is really good.

      -------Similar Songs--------
      ----"Secret Location"
      ----"In-da-Street (skit)"
      ----"Bilingual" (featuring Ivy Queen)
      ----"Conscience (skit)"
These few songs on the album are really only for the hardcore rap fans because they are purely just what you want in a rap song. The instrumentals for each are edgy and quite similar to each other. The songs themselves have really good lyrical content and she combines fast rapping and slow rapping in the songs. These songs are the most aggressive songs on the album and truly show her character and personality.
----"What's Going On" (featuring Keyshia Cole) - This is probably the most emotional song on the album and Remy really put her soul into rapping this song which talks about abortion. Keyshia Cole is very good singer and I think she brought alot to this song.
----"Still" - This song is another more emotional song and a nice way to finish the album on a good note.

The album cover was inspired by the DVD cover for the movie There's Something About Mary. I would recommend this album to people who like listening to rap music it's definitely worth a listen. If your not into rap then it really isn't for you.
The album is available to buy on Amazon New & Used from £1.66.
