Nine Inch Nails mix albums have always had mixed welcomes. Both ‘Fixed’ and ‘The Downward Spiral’ received severe panning from critics and frustration from fans, impatient for the next ‘proper’ NIN album. Like it or lump it though, Trent has enough money and loyal fans to keep on doing them. Personally, I thought that next to none of the remixes on those records did the originals justice, but that that was unimportant. The mixes worked in context with each other, even though they were extremely different, to create a fantastic landscape, more akin to a soundtrack. This offering is no different, a collection of mixes from 1999’s ... Read the complete review

Nine Inch Nails, the band who brought tunes to industrial music make a slight return after the stunning double album ‘The Fragile’ with an album mainly consisting of reworked songs from The Fragile. The music is the normal varied Nine Inch Nails mix of thumping beats, haunting piano, anger filled lyrics, harsh thrashy guitar and pounding synths. The question is though, is it as good as ‘Further Down the Spiral’, the excellent versions album for the equally excellent ‘The Downward Spiral’ Starting off with ‘Slipping Away’ the album gets off to a good start. Slipping Away transforms the second track from The ... Read the complete review

It sounds like a contradiction in itself but I've got to be honest with you lot, I'm a Nine Inch Virgin. Strange as it may seem Trent and the guys have seemingly just passed by and its not until now with "Things Falling Apart" that I've had the chance to assess the situation. After work with Marilyn Manson, falling out with Marilyn, making up again and having a hand in reviving Gary Numan's flailing career you'd think he wouldn't have time for his own band. But alas, here we are with another N.I.N's remix album. Starting off with "Slipping Away" Trent and Alan Moulder on manipulation duties turn a what could be a ... Read the complete review

Things falling apart is the new album from NIN i.e. Trent Reznor. However, "new" may not be the most accurate description of this album. It contains 10 tracks, most of which are remixes from the fabulous "Fragile" album. There are three new songs - Slipping Away, The Great Collapse and Metal which was written by Gary Numan. The remixes from The Fragile are The Wretched, The Frail, Where is Everybody?, and three versions of "Starf*****s". If you don't like this song, don't buy "Things falling apart"!. The album is in much the same vein as "Further down the spiral", the songs are recognisably still the ... Read the complete review
