The release of this album is never going to be considered a seminal moment in the history of pop music. Alphabeat bring nothing new to the table, yet I happen to think that for at least half of this album, they do an excellent job of providing the listener with really good catchy pop songs. I must confess that I rarely listen beyond track 7 as things tail off towards the end, and probably never would have gone so far as to buy the album if my younger daughter had not been so taken with them. However when they are good, most notably on the four singles ('Fascination', '10,000 nights', 'Boyfriend' and 'What is happening'), they are at least on a par with what the likes of Steps offered in their heyday. I doubt whether they have more than one more album in them, but I wouldn't be surprised if they manage to repeat their success next time round.

Summary: Better than the critics would suggest
