Danzig Vol.2: Lucifuge - Danzig
by dangaroo - written on 08/01/09 (Very useful, 18 readings)
Rating:
Danzig II - Lucifuge is the band Danzig s 2nd album and was released on the back of relative success of Danzig - Danzig in 1990 on Rick Rubin s label Def American. whilst it doesn t have any hits as good as their debut album, it s not a bad effort. The heavy metal guitars actually disappear as the album takes on more of a hard rock and bluesy sound like The Doors on Morrison Hotel. The track 777 is a good example of this as is Devil s Play Thing (surprisingly sounds like The Smiths a little too), Blood and Tears is another even slower track. Girl is another song popular amongst fans and Snakes of Christ is fairly catchy musically but for me it has to be the tracks ...

Danzig Vol.3: How The Gods Kill - Danzig
by dangaroo - written on 08/01/09 (Very useful, 9 readings)
Rating:
whilst it s pretty good music - it s not as much to my liking as the earlier guitar heavy ones. Whilst this album may be one of Danzig s most successful, commercially - I think it s one that appeals to the romantic or moody teenagers but for me it s the worst of the 1st free and moves too far away from the style of the Danzig album and the previous work of Samhain that I like so much. Apart from Heart of the Devil, the album lacks any really killer lyrics. Compare Left Hand Black to Twist of Cain and you will see what I mean. The album cover is a famous painting by Giger that was modified by the artsit in order to make room for an interpretation of the Danzig school ...

Rating:
good thing. Danzig do not slot easy into any kind of category, and love them or hate them, you have to admire that. Maybe a close description would be to take some Elvis, mix in a little Morrison, a splash of Sabbath and a pinch of Zepppelin. Then again, maybe not. This album, like most of theirs, is not fantastic, but it ...
