Danzig Vol.2: Lucifuge - DanzigNot as good as the 1st album but still good (263 words)

Danzig II - Lucifuge is the band Danzig s 2nd album and was released on the back of relative success of Danzig - Danzig in 1990 on Rick Rubin s label Def American. whilst it doesn t have any hits as good as their debut album, it s not a bad effort. The heavy metal guitars actually disappear as the album takes on more of a hard rock and bluesy sound like The Doors on Morrison Hotel. The track 777 is a good example of this as is Devil s Play Thing (surprisingly sounds like The Smiths a little too), Blood and Tears is another even slower track. Girl is another song popular amongst fans and Snakes of Christ is fairly catchy musically but for me it has to be the tracks ...
Danzig Vol.3: How The Gods Kill - DanzigPopular but not as good in my eyes! (268 words)

whilst it s pretty good music - it s not as much to my liking as the earlier guitar heavy ones. Whilst this album may be one of D Danzig s most successful, commercially - I think it s one that appeals to the romantic or moody teenagers but for me it s the worst of the 1st free and moves too far away from the style of the Danzig album and the previous work of Samhain that I like so much. Apart from Heart of the Devil, the album lacks any really killer lyrics. Compare Left Hand Black to Twist of Cain and you will see what I mean. The album cover is a famous painting by Giger that was modified by the artsit in order to make room for an interpretation of the Danzig school ...

never listened to D Danzig it is almost impossible for me to explain to you how they sound. Which is, I think, a good thing. Danzig do not slot easy into any kind of category, and love them or hate them, you have to admire that. Maybe a close description would be to take some Elvis, mix in a little Morrison, a splash of ...

The Divine Wings Of Tragedy: Special Edition - Symphony X - Incredibly detailed songs Won't appeal to fans of less heavy-going rock, or other musical styles
Abandon - Deep Purple - A couple of good tracks and the live album 'Total Abandon' rocks Not up to the usual standard, I was dissapointed.
Burn - Deep Purple - Some decent music being played Bland lyrics and Coverdale's voice irritates me
Fatal Portrait - King Diamond - Effective horror atmosphere, great guitar performance. Weak production and few instantly memorable songs.
The Eye - King Diamond - More accessible. Watered down.
Conspiracy - King Diamond - Great performances all-round, many memorable songs. Band has settled into a bit of a rut.

Technically accomplished stoner rock that knows when to take it easy.
Some instrumentals are less inspired than others.

Pleasant lead guitars, and an insight into the early years of melodic death metal.
It's all about the guitars, and even those aren't particularly stunning.

Melodic black metal without being cheesy.
Over-reliance on traditional forms.
