Advantages: Good Debut Album

Disadvantages: I have to eat my words !

Lets face it. Theres no such thing as a good female artist. Sure they release one good song but they never come up with an albums worth. If your lucky their attractive and look pretty on Album covers and posters (Yes I'm talking to you Britney Spears!) This is what I thought until I heard Fiona Apple.

I'd heard about her music but I didn't think it would appeal to me. Then I came across an mp3 of hers and liked it so I downloaded the rest of the album. After a few listens I realised that this album was too good to be just on my hard drive so I bought the album.

She's a singer/songwriting pianist. Being a massive Ben Folds Five fan I am a complete convert to piano driven music. I think it's such a powerful instrument for playing ballads. Fiona Apple is a sensitive soul and it shows in her music. She writes very powerful, very moving songs and has a voice which conveys her feelings well. You can tell that she cares about these songs. If you have had a hard
day at work or your life's not going so well then this is the album to listen to.

No such thing as a good female artist ? What was I talking about ?!!
