      Trying too hard

I was alerted to the all-female Swedish metal band Crucified Barbara when I saw they were touring with Motorhead not so long ago, I'm always on the look out for a bit of female metal as there's not much compared to the abundance of their male counterparts.

I was a bit disappointed with Crucified Barbara really though, don't get me wrong - they are very good looking girls and they should definitely do reasonably well in the metal for mtv type band, glamorous hard rock with poppy trashy lyrics.

Til Death Do Us Party is certainly a catchy name, the band's songs tend to be suggestive and trashy but you get the feeling that they are trying just that little bit too hard to impress and fulfill the title of accomplished metal artist and sexy rock chick, there's really nothing special about the music at all, it's bog-standard hard rock and the forceful vocals tend to be a bit grating.

You can't help but feel that they have been varnished with a very commercial gloss and despite the fact they have made it by playing in small venues and touring endlessly, they seem to have lost any grit that they might have had. Saying that there is an overall catchiness to the album still, even if the songs aren't quite how I had imagined them.

Jennyfer is probably the best song in my eyes, many of the other tracks seem a bit over-robotic and this actually has a bit of emotion to it.
