This must surely be a tribute to Charley's Angels, although to avoid legal complications, Tommy has changed the lyrics to 'kick-ass angels'. Although this is one of the album's greater achievements, it's worth noting that it's quite possibly th...more

Crowned Review Tin Planet - Space: There was something in his voice which stopped us seeing red ... (1200 words)

What sort of band were Space, exactly? I say 'were', because I've heard nothing about them since their one-off single 'We've got to get out of this place', a few years ago now. I assume they've either split up or been fired from their label. They don't fit easily into any category. They're too light to be called a rock band, and too crass to be lumped under the one-size-fits-all Indie blanket. They're too silly to qualify for AOR, and just strange enough to escape the pop label. It seems to me that Space are basically a novelty band, four cheeky Liverpool lads having a bit of a laugh. Their sound is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Space - Tin Planet (301 words)

Space are a strange band. I don't know how to categorise them, I don't think they know how to categorise themselves. I suppose they are some sort of wierd take on indie-rock. Whatever they are, they're cool. Their first album (that I know of) was the funny and enjoyable 'Spiders', and the follow up is 'Tin Planet'. To start on a low note, in my opinion Tin Planet isn't as good as Spiders. Where as the later had catchy classics like 'Neighbourhood' and 'Me and You Versus the World', TP suffers from a bit of a lack of truly memorable tracks. While 'The Unluckiest Man in the World', 'A Little Biddy Help ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tin Planet - Space: WIERD BUT............. GOOD ! (387 words)

My opinion: I think that Space are a weird band but can produce good music. To like Tin Planet I think you have to like Space and especially like that kind of music. I like Tin Planet but some of the songs on the album are pretty weird although I can tell when a band has worked hard to make an album and Space have. To like it: To like the album I especially suggest you get use to space music first rather than spending money on a style of music you don’t like. Then learn about the band and grow to like them. Then you are better purchasing Tin Planet. What's new? : There are a lot of changes in the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tin Planet in Space (222 words)

I found Tin Planet completly different to the original alubm, Spiders, by Tin Planet, but this was the album that made me a Space fan. This album contains chunky riffs, funny lyrics and some heavy guitar, not heavy rock or metal - more a tamed down version with lyrics that are actually worth listening to, which is quite a surprise in a modern rock song like this. An album well worth buying, it got me interested in Space and although you won't spend time with the song stuck in your head, you can put this music on and listen to it nicely in the background or sing along. As a band, Space arn't pop because they're style is too heavy but ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Tin Planet - Space: Good follow-up (244 words)
by - written on 23/07/00 (Very useful, 16 readings)
Rating:

This album is in the same style as the last one, but the lyrics are more mature. Avenging Angels and the Ballad of Tom Jone were hit singles and rightly so, but Begin Again's release at the same time as the album meant it didn't get a great chart placing. This is a shame because like most of the album, the tunes are great, the lyrics are funny, and the song is another highly individual and twisted take on pop/indie/rock. The album is great, from the sleeve showing a DIY robot (special edition CDs were packaged in a tin - my sister trod on mine and dented it - boo hoo) to the well thought out lyrics. The only track i don't like is ...  Read the complete review

Some classic tracks, funny at times, definitely a cult favourite A couple of weaker tracks but not many

It's a remix album...Some of the remixes are a bit pointless or boring Hearing Mogwai songs in a different light, sometimes even better than the originals; good remixers, and an absence of Fatboy Slim...

sweet none

Everything You Could Ever Want From The Jam... Ever!! Takes 6 hours to listen to...?

Amazing album with contrasting music :) None unless you don't like this type of music..

Two great tracks, pockets of quality in other songs, innovative sounds Possibly two of the worst tracks to exist

Graffiti Soul - Simple Minds
Restrained vocals, excellent guitar work, interesting songs A bit disjointed at times, the tracks don't flow well into each other.

State Of Emergency - The Living End
Fast paced punk brilliance with a touch of excellence I might think of one one day, No where town is far too good

Black Roses - The Rasmus
Much effort has gone into this work, and it clearly shows! Includes "L.I.A.W.W.Y" and "Justify" It ends..? We have to wait again for the next album?

Hide From The Sun - The Rasmus
Very creative, includes the great singles "No Fear", "Shot" and "Sail Away." It's awesome! Maybe slightly too dark themed for these guys, who are actually really happy people.

Las Vegas Grind, Pt. 2
Still a few cracking tracks especially at the beginning Disjointed, too many filler tracks

Flight Of The Conchords - Flight Of The Conchords
Clever and insanely funny Not Long Enough!
