Advantages: good music
Disadvantages: not his best
Too long in exile
This was first produced in 1993
I have not listened to this cd for a while come sit down next to me and listen ,
Van Morrison sings blues. I really like listening to blues sometimes. This may not be his best CD but i find it pleasant and tranquil to listen too.
Van Morrison sings/ growls in his unmistakable voice he also plays guitar, harmonica, alto sax. . He is accompanied by John lee Hooker, Ronnie Johnson. electric guitar. Teena Lyle (recorder, Hammond B-3 organ, vibraphone, congas, background vocals); Kate St. John (English horn, tenor saxophone); Candy Dulfer (alto saxophone); Howard Francis (piano, Hammond B-3 organ); John Savannah (Hammond B-3 organ, background vocals); John Allair (Hammond B-3 organ); Georgie Fame (keyboards); Richard Cousins, Nicky Scott (bass); Geoff Dunn, Paul Robinson, Kevin Hayes (drums).
On this C D he covers some old Rhythm and blue songs, he also uses his own tunes .
I find that although this Cd is not especially uplifting music it is not depressing either.
Van sings his songs with emotion. Some of the emotions are brooding, slightly menacing . He sings of devotion, love. I must have been sitting here for just over an hour listening to Vans voice the haunting tones of the sax. This C D is very bluesy
There are 15 tracks on this CD.
Van Morrison was born in 1945 .He started his solo career in 1967 recording many albums in America i discovered he is playing in Bournemouth in march. I really would like to see /hear him live.
