Memoirs Of A Geisha - Soundtrack

Premium Review Film Score Paints A Picture (346 words)
by janharper - written on 06/07/09 (Very useful, 27 readings)
Rating:

This original soundtrack from the film 'Memoirs of a Geisha' is on the Sony Classical label and was released in 2005. The original score and the songs were composed by John Williams who add this success to his collection of 3 others including War of the Worlds. The eighteen tracks run for a little over an hour (61:02 minutes to be exact.) * 1. Sayuri's Theme 1:31 * 2. The Journey to the Hanamachi 4:06 * 3. Going to School 2:42 * 4. Brush on Silk 2:31 * 5. Chiyo's Prayer 3:36 * 6. Becoming a Geisha 4:52 * 7. Finding Satsu 3:44 * 8. The Chairman's Waltz 2:39 * 9. The Rooftops of the Hanamachi 3:49 ...

Memoirs Of A Geisha - Soundtrack

Premium Review Leaves brush past in the wind... All's calm again (1589 words)

All of those were competent and dramatic, though none of them have escaped feelings of a mixed nature. While I have similar feelings towards those three as well, the fourth score, Memoirs of a Geisha, certainly is an absolute delight, and one I consider as one of the absolute highlight scores of 2005. Based on the popular novel of Arthur Golden, ...

Matrix: Reloaded - Soundtrack

Premium Review Neo-ly a very good album (1087 words)
by l-m-n-o-p - written on 20/09/05 (Very useful, 840 readings)
Rating:

Despite all the criticism given to The Matrix Reloaded, I was a big fan, and I bought the DVD and the soundtrack. However, after recently having another listen to the album, it isn't as good as I remembered it to be. Ok, so it has some decent dance tunes, and the second CD is very good, but there are a fair few duff tracks. The first CD contains the music either from the credits or "inspired" by the film. Some might say it has a range of styles, but really, there's just rock (P.O.D.), dance (Oakenfold), or a mixture of both (Rob Zombie). It gets off to a good start with Session by Linkin Park. Although I'm not normally a fan, I found this track to be strange ...
