Despite the fact that compilations can quite often be a marketing ploy to get you to buy something that you actually don't need to, there is something distinctly magical about Top Of The Pops. Their 1999 compilation album featured a nice selection of some of the most fun music to have graced the floors of the legendary TV music show that is sadly no longer with us, and the result is a clever combination of hits on 2 discs. The first disc has a curious combination, and isn't full of the most obvious choices, making it a typical Top Of The Pops whereby some of the tracks are a more insightful music decision as opposed to a popularity contest. It starts off boppy ... Read the complete review

I am a nineties kid through and through, it's definitely the best time to grow up in. Though saying that I found I only had one of the Top of the Pops CDs from the time - the Top of the Pops '99 Volume Two. This particular 90s CD can be recognised by its orange cover. Around the Top of the Pops logo there are lots of circles with artis's heads in, such as Lolly, The Cartoons and S Club Seven. This gives you a little preview of what can be found inside. There are two Cds inside, with a total of 39 tracks spread out across the both of them. I wont tell you all the tracks as I will let you discover their wonders for yourself, but I shall talk about just a few of ... Read the complete review

Young Lions - Adrian Belew
Pop Rock - 1990
Side One - Adrian Belew
Glorious return, most experimental solo release to date.
Still sounds like the stuff he was doing in the eighties.
Side Three - Adrian Belew
Satisfying conclusion, building on its predecessors and introducing new elements.
Clear overlap with Belew's concurrent work in King Crimson.
Side Two - Adrian Belew
A different approach that works surprisingly well.
Songs tend to sound the same.
Op Zop Too Wah - Adrian Belew
Adrian Belew finally gives the fans what they want.
Some of the tracks are ridiculous and pointless, but that still lends them a certain charm.
Mr. Music Head - Adrian Belew
Mix of catchy pop and slightly more experimental songs.
Neither style works especially well.
Inner Revolution - Adrian Belew
The guitar is back, at least.
Belew continues to produce disappointing pop, several decades out of date.
Here - Adrian Belew
Re-introduces long-absent guitar experimentation.
Mostly Beatles plagiarism.
Animosity - Berzerker
The drummer is technically accomplished.
He does the same thing nineteen times every second for twenty-eight minutes.
