2001 was a good year for rock music financially as the alternative had become the popular choice among people of many age groups. In 2001 it was unsurprising to see Slipknot’s terribly discordant youth angst blasphemy ‘Iowa’ hitting number one in the charts, but I was surprised to see System of a Down’s ‘Toxicity’ accompanying it at number two – I had heard one song from the album and was very impressed, but I didn’t know they had such a huge influence and following. I recently remembered that this band, and in particular this album, existed and I soon purchased the CD for a fairly low price on eBay (strangely from a seller in my own very small, obscure town ... System Of A Down are a real mix of cultures. Living in America, but born and bred in Armenia, the four band members Serj Tankian, Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadijan and John Dolymayan merge together to give one of the most unique sounds I have heard in the last few years, as this is not metal as you know it, this is thrash metal with a folk influence, albeit very much toned down since their earlier releases, but it is still there for all to hear. You think it won't work? Listen to this band and you will think differently I assure you. I warn you in advance though, this is not music to chill out to. This music grabs hold of you, shakes you around for a while and then goes ... Read the complete review

System of a Down: Toxicity: I'm into heavier rock and metal music and System of a Down are one of my favourite bands. They are a fairly odd band and my enjoyment of them was certainly increased by my Mum's inability to remember the name of the band. In the past she has called them "Sit Your Mother Down" and "System of a Cloud" on more than one occasion much to mine and my Brother's amusement! Toxicity was released in 2000 and was the bands second album. It earned them two Grammy nominations for the songs, Chop Suey and Aerials. Unfortunately the song Chop Suey was taken off the radios in America due to politically sensitive ... Read the complete review

Toxicity System Of A Down is one of the heavy metal bands that I actually do enjoy listening to. Well, the older stuff at least, I'm not overly keen of the newer releases, they're just not as good in my opinion! **The Band** System Of A Down are an American rock/metal band. I and many other fans love the fact that all of the band's songs are expressing political views about war and other things, the song's have meanings and are not just rubbish put together to sound good. The members of the band are: Serj Tankian, Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian, and John Dolmayan. The band have released five albums: System Of A Down (1998) Toxicity ... Read the complete review

"Toxicity" came out in 2001, and was the second album from the Nu-Metal band, System of A Down. The group had released one album prior to this, and after the hype of their self-entitled debut was brought up, they managed to come out with a hit #1 album with this one as they brought there alternative sound to the Metal genre. 1. "Prison Song" To start it all off, they do it in a big way as they do an excited one to wae you up. Their well-known stop-start style is put into effect from the beginning, and it gives it makes it all seem quite unpredictable as they burst with energy, and then sudenly stop it all, and then out of ...
