Advantages: Excellent tracks, not too commercial.

Disadvantages: Shame the series has declined.

As soon as the trance scene in the UK kicked off in a big way at the start of 1999 it was inevitable that the Ministry would capitalise on this fact and put together a compilation of the tunes that would make somebody's summer complete. Whereas their Ibiza compilations are a mix of house, trance, garage and whatever else they can fit in - generally bad cd's, this one was new and different.
MoS's two first trance-devoted albums, this, and "the clubber's guide to..trance" both fitted the bill perfectly. Neither were too commercial but yet included what was really the sound of the clubs.
Trance Nation 1 is the only TN I would advise getting as this series has just unfortunately got more and more commercial as it goes on.

But the original, this classic was new and innovative at the time and remains so to this day.
