M Ward's music takes in influences from all over the place. Essentially it's hazy, folksy Americana, but it isn't that simple or pure. Transfigurations of Vincent picks up where previous album, End of Amnesia left off. There aren't any major stylistic changes, but this is a good thing, it allows Ward to develop and strengthen his style through referencing a lot of his influences. It kicks off with an instrumental, "Tranfiguration No. 1", and although I'm not a fan of instrumentals, this one really holds its weight and sets the tone for the album - whimsical and ever changing.
