Whilst Greek metal scene veterans Rotting Christ have long been associated with black metal, they also owe a considerable debt to NWOBM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) bands like Iron Maiden, as their 1996 album 'Triarchy of the Lost Lovers' proves beyond all doubt. Whilst retaining traces of black metal in terms of its production, its overall feel, and in the use of raw, screamed vocals, the album has a strong heavy metal/rock feel to it, relying heavily on guitar harmonies and uplifting melodic solos.
