The Warning - Queensryche
by jamesbevis2 - written on 25/11/08 (Useful, 16 readings)
Rating:
Queensryche's debut album, The Warning came fresh off of the successful self titled EP and as expected the band didn't disappoint. Fronted with some cool and now pleasingly retro sleeve artwork, the band shared some of their style with the early Iron Maiden sound, but were easily distinguished by Geoff Tate's souring and high pitched vocal, which was more often than not beefed up with some solid backing vocals. The content within follows a fairly familiar pattern, with plenty of room left for guitar solos and of course the classic 80's 'eco' effect on the drums, and in fairness the producers did a great job of the overall sound. Fans of Queensryche will recognise the trademark ...
Hear In The Now Frontier - Queensryche
by jamesbevis2 - written on 25/11/08 (Useful, 7 readings)
Rating:
The much publicized and much criticized 'change of direction' in the bands sound and approach brought about the neatly titled Hear In The Now Frontier album, which had a much more mainstream and melodic rock edge to it. In my mind, a nice change of pace delivered with fantastic production; in others minds a failed attempt at a ...

Perhaps I was because Empire has never quite grabbed me like the previous Mindcrime album did and despite a fantastic title track, this is a little bit of a letdown although I was some what prepared for one. I have heard this release being called 'radio friendly' and whether or not that was the intention I'm not sure, but I suppose any period rock album without a concept would always have be heading that way, and while no new ...

The Resignation - Rx Bandits
Brilliant use of guitars, excellent vocals, and hugely powerful drum beats.
This hour of music just doesn't seem to last long enough.
Santi - The Academy Is
One track is excellent and a couple more are reasonably enjoyable.
Poorly produced, too many things going on at once within the sound.
Rise Or Die Trying
In small doses the music of Four Year Strong is quite enjoyable.
Hearing the same overly upbeat track eleven times over is my idea of hell.
Progress - Rx Bandits
Excellent lyrics, fine melodies, super vocals, and fantastic musicianship.
More pop heavy than other RX Bandits albums, this may put some listeners off.
Once More With Feeling: Singles 1996-2004 - Placebo
Get to see all the videos with hilarious commentary..
It has to end at some point!
Interlopers - Fall The Rise
The sound is sometimes quite interesting.
The music is messy, the bands members possess a severe lack of musical ability.
Halfway Between Here And There - Rx Bandits
An excellent album blending Ska and Pop Punk to perfection.
Better RX Bandits albums have been released than this.
Chuck - Sum 41
An excellent change in sound for Sum 41, superb use of guitars.
Fans of the bands Pop Punk sound may not appreciate this album quite so much.
