Infinite - Stratovarius
by guitarman23 - written on 19/03/07 (Somewhat useful, 32 readings)
Rating:
This follows pretty much the same path as the album 'destiny' although I find this album is lacking the passion of destiny and becomes to progressive on some of the songs namely mother gaia. The single hunting high and low is a pretty catchy but I find still it does not match the bands earlier works, and they went downhill from here on ...
Infinite - Stratovarius

Rating:
Having defined themselves as Finland’s premier heavy metal band over the course of eight increasingly exciting albums, Stratovarius stumbled into the new millennium with ‘Infinite,’ an enjoyable but disappointing backwards step for a band soon to fall into steep decline and literal insanity. Pertaining to be something of the definitive symphonic metal CD with its grandiose cover art (produced by Iron Maiden artist Derek Riggs), ‘Infinite’ continues the trend of each Stratovarius album sounding pretty much like the last one, but this time looking backwards instead of forwards. Consistant quality
One weak track
Not An Angel - City Sleeps
The sound is quite bouncy and fun, the vocal lines are very well sung out.
The music is really quite generic and contrived; it's all been done before and better.
Nothing To Prove - H2O
Uplifting, full of fun, vocally excellent, instrumentally striking.
The 5 minute spoken outro is incredibly unnecessary.

Sundowning - This Is Hell
Hard and heavy hardcore punk, brutally hard hitting and very well put across.
The album brings nothing new to the genre of hardcore punk
Surrender All But Our Skin - Deserves To Die
We Are The Problem - US Bombs
A couple of half decent tracks.
Most of the album is really quite dull and uninspiring.
